APPOINTMENTS TO T H E FACULTY (2) T h e following new appointments to the faculty of the rank of Assistant Professor and above, and involving tenure, have been approved since the previous meeting of the Board of Trustees. 1. SIDNEY R. ELSDEN, Visiting Professor of Bacteriology, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, for six months from February 16, 1956, at a salary of $6,500 ( G ) . 2. DOROTHY ESHBAUGH, Assistant Professor of Pathology, in the College of Medicine, beginning January 15, 1956, at an annual salary of $4,200 (DY50). 3. VINCENT V. GLAVIANO, Assistant Professor of Physiology, in the College of Medicine, beginning September I, 1956, at an annual salary of $6,500 ( D ) . 4. JOHN I. ZERBE, Research Assistant Professor, Small Homes Council, beginning February 1, 1956, at an annual salary of $6,000 ( D Y ) . A p p o i n t m e n t t o N o n a c a d e m i c Staff The Director of Nonacademic Personnel reports the following appointment to a supervisory position of upper level responsibility. 1. GRACE F . BACON, Assistant to Manager of Mini Union at the Chicago P r o fessional Colleges, beginning January 3, 1956, at an annual salary of $3,930. O n motion of M r . Swain, these appointments w e r e confirmed. GRADUATE PROGRAMS (3) T h e University Senate has recommended the following graduate programs: Physico-Chemical Biology. A curriculum leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Physico-Chemical Biology. T h e curriculum provides that the standard requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy degree shall be maintained, the research to be in biology with minors in chemistry and physics, and the program to be administered by a committee appointed by the Dean of the Graduate College. Marketing and Management. Instead of the Master of Science degree in Business Organization and Operation, the degrees of Master of Science in Marketing or Master of Science in Management shall be awarded to students completing requirements for the master's degree in these fields. This recommendation is consistent with the separation at the undergraduate level of the former Department of Business Organization and Operation into the Departments of Accountancy, Business Law, Management, and Marketing. I concur in these recommendations. O n m o t i o n of M r . W i l l i a m s o n , these r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s w e r e a p proved.
