BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Legal Counsel recommends that he be authorized to waive service of summons upon the University, and to enter its appearance and file an answer for it in the suit in order to cooperate with counsel for the other defendants in his efforts to secure an early trial of the case. President Henry concurred in this recommendation. On motion of Mrs. Watkins, authority was granted as recommended.

APPROPRIATION FOR VISIT O F GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Mrs. Watkins, Chairman of the Committee on the Chicago Departments, reported that members of the General Assembly will be invited to make an official visit to the University's Chicago Professional Colleges and to the Chicago Undergraduate Division on June 19, 1056, for the purpose of inspection and conferences with University officials. The Committee recommends that an assignment of $1,000 be made to the Public Functions Fund of the President's Office to cover the expense of this visitation. On motion of M r . Livingston, this appropriation was m a d e from the General Reserve F u n d by the following vote: Aye, M r . Livingston, Mr. Megran, M r s . W a t k i n s ; no, n o n e ; absent, none.

APPROPRIATION FOR INSTALLATION OF T H E PRESIDENT

The Secretary of the Board presented a request from the Faculty Committee on the Installation of the President for an appropriation for the expenses of the installation. On motion of Mr. Livingston, an appropriation of $7,500 was made from the General Reserve Fund by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Livingston, Mr. Megran, Mrs. Watkins; no, none; absent, none. The Committee adjourned.
