The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend the award of the contract to the Montgomery Elevator Co., the lowest bidder, for $4,763. I concur and recommend approval and that authority be given the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board to execute the contract. On motion of Mr. Davis, this purchase and the execution of the contract were authorized. APPOINTMENT O F ASSISTANT TO T H E DIRECTOR O F T H E INSTITUTE O F AERONAUTICS (6) A recommendation that Robert T. Erie, 1038 Washington Boulevard, Oak Park, Illinois, former Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve and a graduate of the University of Illinois, be appointed Assistant to the Director of the Institute of Aeronautics at the University of Illinois, beginning as soon as he can report for duty, at an annual salary of $5,000. O n motion of M r . Davis, this appointment was authorized as recommended. HISTORY O F T H E AIRPORT On motion of Mr. Davis, the Secretary was delegated to compile and edit the history of the University of Illinois Airport, in consultation with the President and members of the Board, the President of the University, and other officials who had part in the matter.
