BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Trustees, if they accept the gift, shall affix to the inside of the cover of each volume a book plate bearing the words "The Kinley Collection." I recommend acceptance of the bequest under the conditions indicated. This collection consists of approximately 2,000 volumes.

On motion of Mrs. Grigsby, this bequest was accepted as recommended.

GIFTS A N D GRANTS TO THE UNIVERSITY

(15) A report of the following gifts and grants of funds received by the University since the last report was made to the Board: Gifts 1. Baruch Committee on Physical Medicine, New York City, $15,000 for teaching physical medicine in the College of Medicine for a period of two years. • 2. The Coca-Cola Company, Wilmington, Delaware, $680 for a graduate fellowship in Chemistry during the spring and summer terms of 1944 (continuation of previous fellowship grants). 3. National Lime Association, Washington, D.C., $860 for a fellowship in Chemistry for one year beginning July 1, 1944 (continuation of previous grants). 4. Colonel Edward E. Voynow, New York City, $500 for ten annual prizes in the School of Music of $50 each, to be known as the Richard F. Voynow Prize in Music, and awarded annually to the student who submits the best essay on a subject selected by the Director of the School of Music. 5. Tau Chapter of Zeta Phi Eta, National Professional Woman's Speech Fraternity, $350 for a scholarship in the field of Speech, for the academic year 1944-1945. 6. C. E. Troyer of LaFontaine, Indiana, $250 for purchase of a calculator for the Agronomy Department. 7. W. J. Blanchard, General Manager, Aeroproducts Division, General Motors Corporation, Dayton, Ohio, and a member of the University's Advisory Board on Aeronautics, $250 for aid to needy students. 8. Transcontinental and Western Air, Incorporated, Kansas City, Missouri, through L. R. Inwood, a member of the University's Advisory Board on Aeronautics, $150 to be added to the scholarship fund, and awards made by the Committee on Special Undergraduate Scholarships to worthy and needy students. 9. Dr. Janet L. Weston, Associate in Economics, approximately 6,000 volumes of notable books and other publications to the University of Illinois Library as a memorial to her father, the late Professor Nathan A. Weston. This -was Professor Weston's personal library; it is one of the largest and most complete in its special field of economic theory and history collected by an individual and is a valuable addition to the Library. 10. Dr. Julius H. Hess, Professor of Pediatrics, Emeritus, six books of which he is author or co-author to the College of Medicine Library, and a 35 mm. (talking) film on the development of pediatric progress in the United States. 11. M. A. Judy, West Lebanon, Indiana, a catalog of a sale held on November 5, 1008, by Anderson & Findlay, importers of Angus breeding cattle, to the Agricultural Library. 12. Missouri Botanical Garden of St. Louis, a collection of orchids (295) to the Division of Floriculture, including a comprehensive list of the scientific names of these orchids. 13. Alumni Association of the College of Medicine, statues of "Asclepius" and "Hygeia" which were executed by Edouard Chassaing, who was director of the sculpture work of the W.P.A. Art Project Division. 14. Mrs. Ralph G Mills of Decatur, a collection of about a thousand specimens of Illinois vascular plants to the Department of Botany herbarium. These were collected by the late Dr. Ralph G. Mills, a graduate of the University in the Class of 1903.
