MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT WILLARD

The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University.

RESIDENCE REQUIREMENT FOR GRADUATION (1) A Bachelor's degree is conferred on a student who satisfactorily completes a curriculum in one of t h e colleges or schools at Urbana, doing either the first three years or the last year of work in residence, but students whose progress h a s been interrupted by call to armed services, and w h o have subsequently ( a s members of t h e armed services) taken work which is acceptable by transfer as satisfying the requirements of their curricula, may be considered to have fulfilled the residence requirement if they have had either the junior year or the second semester of the junior year and the first semester of the senior year at the University of Illinois. T h e Board of Trustees on recommendation of the University. Senate has established a Division of Special Services for W a r Veterans which, in addition to its other services, is authorized to set up special curricula a n d other programs of instruction to meet special needs of veterans. I n order that the Director of t h e Division may deal effectively with the problem of graduating veterans who can not meet the regular residence requirements without undue hardship, I recommend that he be authorized to waive the residence requirements whenever necessary, in any curriculum' leading to a baccalaureate degree. O n m o t i o n of M r . D a v i s , this a u t h o r i t y w a s g r a n t e d a s recommended. AWARD OF CERTIFICATES O F CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (2) T h e following persons are recommended for the Illinois C.P.A. certificate on the basis of having satisfactorily passed an examination given by the Special Board of Examiners:
