BOARD OF TRUSTEES

[June 27

F. Office space 18' x 33' on fourth floor of South Head House, comprising 594 square feet. for the term of one year expiring on the 30th day of June, 1047, with the privilege of lessee to renew for successive biennial periods up to June 30, 1951, and annually thereafter until June 30, 1954; subject to termination by lessee on six (6) months notice to the City and subject to termination by either party on six (6) months notice to the other party in the event said lease is in effect four (4) years after the making thereof; at an annual rental of thirty-five cents (350) a square foot, payable in equal monthly installments in advance; said premises to be used by the lessee for educational purposes; said lease to be on such other terms and conditions and in such form as shall meet the approval of the Corporation Counsel, the Commissioner of Public Works, and the City Comptroller. T h e Comptroller is also authorized to rent automobile parking space to the lessee on the Navy Pier property of 20,000 square feet at an annual rental of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00).

Professor Britton presented this resolution. On motion of Mr. Nickell, this resolution was adopted, and the Comptroller and the Secretary were authorized to execute the lease following approval of its terms by the Executive Committee.

B U D G E T FOR DIVISION O F S E R V I C E S FOR C R I P P L E D CHILDREN (10) T h e budget of the Division of Services for Crippled Children for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1046, is submitted herewith. It is summarized as follows: Salaries and Expense and Wages Equipment Total State appropriations 3 63 600 3464 940 3528 540 United States funds 135 645 48 875 184 520 Total 3i99 245 3513 815 3713 060 In submitting this budget, it should be stated that, although the Division is placed under the general supervision of the University and appropriations for it are made to the University, sufficient information is not available concerning the work and requirements of the Division to review it with the same thoroughness as is done for the University budget, and it is so presented to the Board of Trustees. It is recommended: 1. That this budget, covering the allocation of the Division's income from appropriations of the State of Illinois and the United States Government, be approved. 2. T h a t the President of the University be authorized to ( a ) make such changes and adjustments as are necessary, (b) make such additional appointments as are necessary, and (c) accept resignations as offered in accordance with the needs of the Division within the total income.

The Comptroller presented this budget. On motion of Mr. Williamson, this budget was approved as presented, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McKelvey, Mr. McLaughlin, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Mrs. Grigsby, Dr. Luken.

NONRECURRING APPROPRIATIONS (11) T h e following appropriations for 1946-1947 are recommended as nonrecurring items from the General Reserve Fund to supplement the regular internal budget for that period: Small Homes Council: Publications 3 3 300 Mailing of publications 2 200 Equipment 560 Council on Teacher Education—Statistical clerk 1 620 Research and Educational Hospital—-Nursing and dietary service for convalescent patients on Navy task project under direction of Doctors Keeton and Cole. . . . 14 500 These appropriations are for one year only.
