Zimmer in Urbana, authority to sign his name to checks drawn on the account: University of Illinois, I. L. Porter, T r e a s u r e r ; and to H . A. Hazleton, J. F. Knight, and W . H. Miller in Chicago, authority to sign his name to checks on the account: University of Illinois, Chicago Departments, I. L. Porter, Treasurer, covering vouchers approved in accordance with regulations approved by the Board. This action supersedes the action of March 9, 1946, page 1025, with respect to the delegation of the signature of the President of the Board only.

DELEGATION OF SIGNATURES — SECURITIES

Resolved, that Lloyd Morey, Comptroller, is authorized to delegate to C. C. DeLong and C. H . P r a t t authority to sign his name to orders for the purchase and sale of securities as approved by this Board or by its Committee acting under due authority. This action supersedes the action of May 12, 1945, page 457, with respect to delegation of the signature of the Comptroller only. PURCHASES AUTHORIZED (4) The following purchases were recommended by the Purchasing Agent and authorized by the Comptroller. Unless otherwise specified the purchases were made on the basis of lowest bids, ceiling prices, or because the items are noncompetitive. Emergency action was necessary to secure delivery in time to meet specific needs or because prices quoted were subject to immediate acceptance. 1. One Hayes type, BA-43 muffled electric, annealing, brazing, and sintering furnace, with transformers and recording controller, for the Department of Electrical Engineering, from C. I. Hayes, Inc., Providence, Rhode Island, at a cost of $3,332.5°2. T h r e e hundred seventy-six feet A D S C O Red Diamond brand tin-lined casing, 64 A D S C O alignment guides for above, and 320 lbs. filler pitch for above, for the Physical Plant Department, from the General Meters and Controls Company, Chicago, at a cost of $2,367.50. 3. One S N J airplane, one UC-78 airplane, and two steerman's airplanes, for the Institute of Aeronautics, from the U. S. Government, Washington, D.C., at a cost of $4,940. 4. One automatic milling machine, one Shelton Arbor press, one surface grinder, one electric hoist, one two-spindel delta drill, one carbide tool grinder, one air vise, and one flow bench, for the Institute of Aeronautics, from the W a r Assets Corporation, Chicago, at a cost of $1,837.76. 5. T h r e e serological water baths, 30 Kolmer racks for tubes, and 66 Kahn racks, for the Department of Bacteriology, from Arthur S. LaPine and Company, Chicago, at a cost of $1,011.02. 6. One Acme super-capacity cabinet, 5,000 Acme pocket cards, and 100 Acme transparent signals, for the Department of Veterinary Pathology and Hygiene, from the Acme Visible Records, Inc., Chicago, at a cost of $1,110.68.

On motion of Mr. Fornof, the action of the Comptroller in authorizing these purchases was approved and confirmed.

PURCHASE RECOMMENDED (5) T h e Purchasing Agent has proposed and the Comptroller recommends the following purchase. T w o 51" garment presses, air driven, for the Physical Plant Department, Chicago, from the American Laundry Machinery Co., Chicago, at a cost of $1,170. I concur in the recommendation.

On motion of Mr. Fornof, this purchase was authorized.
