It was further represented to the Mayor that the Navy would cooperate with the University of Illinois in establishing this proposed branch on Navy Pier. On June 12, in the Office of the Commissioner of Public Works, there was a conference on this same subject matter. Those in attendance were: COLEMAN R. GRIFFITH, Provost, University of Illinois C. S. H E W I T T , Commissioner of Public W o r k s , City of Chicago At this meeting, Provost Griffith and Mr. Havens agreed to recommend to the President of the University of Illinois, and Oscar E. Hewitt agreed to recommend to Mayor Kelly, to the City Council, and to the City Comptroller, an agreement between the University and the City of Chicago which will provide that the City will grant a lease and the University of Illinois will accept a lease of which the principal terms are included in a memorandum filed with the Secretary for record. RELEASES O F FUNDS FROM STATE-WIDE PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS APPROPRIATION (12) A report that Governor Dwight H . Green has authorized the release of funds from the appropriation made to the University of Illinois by the 64th General Assembly in the "Act making appropriations for a State-wide system of public works projects, including all ordinary and contingent expenses relating thereto," as follows: Release No. / p 5 "For construction of fire protection facilities and equipment (to meet National Board of Fire Underwriters recommendations, partial) . .$120 000" Amount released 21 SCO Release No. 196 "For construction of phone service extensions Amount released $ 38 000" 38 000

Release No. 201 "For contingencies to cover expenditures for purposes for which the amount appropriated in any item above enumerated is or becomes insufficient $500 000" Amount released 122 050 This is to be used to augment Releases No. 2 and No. 09, totaling $680,000, from the appropriation item "construction of Power Plant addition and equipment."
