5. Mrs. Kittie B. Pierce, LaGrange, Illinois, $500 for the continuation of the Phyllis Pierce Ruettinger Scholarship. 6. Mr. John W . Ruettinger, Chicago, $500 for the renewal of the John C. Ruettinger Memorial Scholarship for 1946-1947. 7. Commander Carl J. Scheve, 90th U. S. Naval Construction Battalion, $350 for scholarships, preference to be given to students in architecture, agriculture, and engineering. 8. Curtiss Candy Company, $500 toward the equipment and support of the Northern Illinois Experimental Field; also, $5,000 from the DeKalb County F a r m Bureau and $200 from the Illinois Northern Utilities Company for the same purpose. 9. Mrs. Kate S. Hecht, $1,000 for the establishment of a Dr. Rudolph Hecht Reprint Library in the Department of Biological Chemistry, College of Medicine. 10. Mr. Martin L. Straus, President of Eversharp, Inc., New York City, $500 additional to be added to the emergency loan fund for deserving and needy students in the College of Medicine. 11. Mr. C. O. Jackson, $150 as a memorial to two members of the T a u Delta Tau Fraternity — the late John Donald Danielson (Class of 1927), and the late Joel Hubbard Rossiter (Class of 1932), to be added to the emergency loan funds for aid to students on the Urbana campus. 12. Lieutenant H a r r y F . Seanor, $120 as a memorial to the late Lieutenant Thomas L. Seanor (Class of 1934), to be added to the emergency loan funds for students at Urbana-Champaign. 13. Dr. Wilton Krogman, Chicago, a used dental chair, valued at $75, to the College of Dentistry. 14. Woman's Auxiliary of the Chicago Colleges, $45 to the Occupational Therapy Department for additional comforts or service for the children in our hospital. 15. Miss Virginia Ryan, Chicago, a collection of books from her father's library for the library of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Grants for Research

1. Mr. William Bross Lloyd, Chicago, $9,000 in support of research on somatoprosthesis under the direction of Dr. S. D. Tylman of the College of Dentistry. 2. Council on Dental Therapeutics of the American Dental Association, $400 in support of a study of desensitizing agents for sensitive necks of teeth. 3. F r o m two donors who desire that their names be not published in the announcement of this gift, $7,500 for the establishment of two fellowships in support of the allergy research program in the College of Medicine. One of these fellowships will be for a physician for a period of two years and the other will be for an immunologist or an immunochemist for a period of one year. In accepting this grant the University has agreed that it will consider for appointments to these fellowships candidates recommended by the Government of France but will reserve the right to determine whether such nominations are acceptable. 4. Mr. Alfred D. Hornstein, $900 to be used in establishing either a Medical Research Fellowship or a Research Technical Assistantship or Fellowship, the fund to be known as the Hornstein Allergy Research Fund. 5. Grants for research in allergy antigens (research program of Dr. B. Z. Rappaport, Assistant Professor of Medicine, and Dr. William H . Welker, Head of the Department of Biological Chemistry) from: Mrs. Frieda R. Pick, $100; Mr. Maxwell H a h n of T h e Field Foundation, Inc., $500; Miss Ann Frankel, $100; Mr. Stanton M. Meyer, $100; H a r r y L. Oppenheimer Foundation, $500; Asthmatic Children's Aid, $2,000; Williams-Meyer Co., Chicago, $500; Louis Popper, Chicago, $150; J. Goldberg, $150; K. H . Kraft of Highland Park, $250; George J. Steine, and Sam Cassel Company, $100 each; Carl S. Goodman, $150. 6. Sterilite Division of Shellmar, $500 in support of research on siiverasboloxane by Dr. F . H . Falls of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. 7. Parke, Davis, and Company, Detroit, Michigan, $5,700 in support of the research study of Doctor Loew of the Department of Pharmacology, Materia Medica, and Therapeutics.
