13. University of Illinois Mothers' Association, $119.58 for the purchase of additional silver for the silver tea service presented to the University last year. 14. Friends and colleagues of the late Dr. H. Douglas Singer, a portrait of Doctor Singer to be hung in a suitable location in the Neuropsychiatric Institute. 15. Students of the College of Medicine, a bas-relief profile medallion in bronze of Dr. David John Davis, Dean of the College of Medicine, as a gift to the College. 16. Aluminum Company of America, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the College of Engineering, a case exhibiting the production of aluminum and the methods of fabrication. 17. Mrs. Ada B. Taft, widow of the late Professor Lorado Taft, to the Ricker Library, a gift of photographs of sculpture, paintings, and architecture; also a collection of articles, pamphlets, and a manuscript of a presentation address in Mr. Taft's handwriting. 18. Mr. James T. Babb, of New Haven, Connecticut, to the Museum of European Culture, his grandfather's Civil W a r Colonel's dress uniform coat. 19. Frazer, $1,500 representing completion of the endowment of the Edmund James Lectures on Government. Grants for Continuation of Agreements for Cooperative Inz-estigations 1. Monsanto Chemical Company, St. Louis, Missouri, $4,500 for the renewal of a fellowship to carry on further research on insecticides in the Agricultural Experiment Station and the State Natural History Survey during the period July 15, 1941, to July 14, 1942. 2. Liberty Chemical Laboratories, Franklin Park, Illinois, an additional $300 for the investigation of greenhouse insecticides by the Agricultural Experiment Station and the State Natural History Survey during the year beginning March

Griffin Wheel Company, $750 for the continuation of an investigation by the College of Engineering to determine the endurance of chilled iron car wheels under long continued brake application, for one year from July 1, 1941. Grants for Research 1. Anonymous, $1,200 for the salary of a Research Graduate Assistant during the years 1942-1943 and 1943-1944 to carry on the investigation on pressures due to granular materials, in the College of Engineering, the assistantship to be known as " T h e Milo Smith Ketchum Research Graduate Assistantship." 2. National Lime Association, $600 for the renewal of a grant to provide an assistant to carry on X-ray studies of lime in the laboratory of Professor G. L. Clark, of the Department of Chemistry, during the year 1941-1942. 3. Standard Brands, Incorporated, of New York, an additional grant of $3,300 for studies of the effects of yeast on the digestive tract, which are being carried on by Dr. Olaf Bergeim, of the Department of Physiological Chemistry, in the College of Medicine during the academic year 1941-1942. 4. Abbott Laboratories, North Chicago, Illinois, $650 for the continuation of the Abbott Fellowship in Organic Chemistry during the year 1941-1042. 5. N e w York Community Trust, on behalf of an anonymous client, $060 in support of a fellowship in Chemistry, $750 to be used as the stipendium and $210 to cover tuition and laboratory fees. This is a continuation of a fellowship awarded during the current academic year. 6. Educational and Research Bureau for By-Product Ammonia, Columbus, Ohio, $300 for exploratory studies on the inter-relationships between sulfate of ammonia and rock phosphate, covering a period of one year from April 15, 1942, by the Department of Agronomy of the College of Agriculture. 7. T h e Nutrition Foundation, Inc., New York City, $2,000 for research work by Professor F . R. Steggerda, of the Department of Physiology, on factors which may alter the calcium utilization by the adult man, and $3,600 for
