BOARD OF TRUSTEES

[April 17

a margin of at least $180 should be allowed for contingencies, making a total cost of $7,500. T h e other improvements in this general program have been completed. T h e cost of some of them exceeded the estimates; at the present time there is a balance of $5,217.53 available in the original appropriation, and additional funds to the extent of $2,300 would be required before the contract for the construction of the herdsman's cottage could be let. T h e College of Agriculture can release $750 from its funds for this appropriation, reducing the additional appropriation necessary to $i,55°Due to the urgent need for this building, I recommend that the Board appropriate an additional $1,550 for the general program of sanitary improvements on the South F a r m s , and award the contract for the construction to Thomas J. Corkery, the lowest bidder, on the basis of his proposal No. 5 at $7,152-

On motion of Mr. Adams, these recommendations were adopted, and the appropriation was made as requested, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Jensen, Mr. Karraker, Mr. Livingston; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Wieland.
