No awards of contracts are recommended in Section I I , Section IV, and items E, F, G, H, I, and J of Section V I , because the prices offered are so low, in proportion to the value, that the Director of the Physical Plant Department believes it would be advisable to keep the equipment for use later. T h e net additional cost to the University of removing this equipment is $794, and an appropriation of that amount will be required. I concur in the recommendations of the Physical Plant Department and recommend an appropriation of $704 from the General Reserve Fund to meet the net expense.

On motion of Mr. Livingston, these recommendations were adopted* and the appropriation was made as requested, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Jensen, Mr. Karraker, Mr. Livingston; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Wieland.

This is a tenant house to be erected southeast of the dairy barns on the extension of Lincoln Avenue, south, replacing a former old and unsightly shack which has been removed. It is a part of the South F a r m s Sanitary Improvements authorized by the Board on May 28, 1940 (Minutes, page 945). T h e Board appropriated $9,225 for sanitary improvements, of which $6,200 was earmarked for this cottage. This estimate of the cost was based on rough preliminary sketches, and obviously was too low. The low bid of $7,152 does not include extension of electric service to the building which would cost $185, and

"This action was rescinded and all bids rejected in the meeting of April 28, 1041, Minutes, page 266.
