SOCIETY OF WOMEN ENGINEERS Tuesday, February 12, 1980 7:00 p.m. 261,263s267 Illini Union The meeting began with a remimnder that elections will be held in March. Each officer then gave an account of her duties and opportunities. Mary Zalapi, chairman of the Awards Committee then gave a report of her work. Companies are being contacted to offer them the opportunity to present one of our members with a scholarship or a trip to Princeton. Planning for the Mom's Day Banquet will begin In earnest after Engineering Open House. Diana Martin will be contacting committee members about meetings. Tickets for the banquet will be on sale beginning March 11. Diana also has SWE pins on sale. Cindy Dahl reported that the Professional Advisory Committee will be redefining their objective. She also asked for others to think about taking over as chairman in case she does not return for graduate school next fall. Social activities in the future includea get together with the Society of Co-Operative Engineers and industry recruiters at Grunt's on Feb. 20. The possibility of a skating party with ASCE was also discussed. The meeing was then turned over to our speakers, from Caterpillar Tractor Co. They were Kay Murdock,Corporate Employment Representative and Lynn Bond and Linda Goossens, U. of I. alumni and engineers at Caterpillar.
