888 for the sixth year, and $241326 for the seventh year, a total of 51,878,543.35 for the seven years. The budget for the first year includes $350,030.35 for remodeling and equip ment, $46,231 for operating expenses, and $115,559 for basic hospitalization expenses for patients admitted to the Center for study. Submission of a similar proposal was authorized by the Board of Trustee; on May 17, I960, but that application was not approved by the National Institutes of Health, In order to meet a deadline of July 1, 1961, for the consideration of this new application, it was submitted late in June with the approval of the Vice. President in charge of the Chicago Professional Colleges. I recommend authorization of this new application and acceptance of funds for the initiation of this project if approval is received from the National Institutes of Health,

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, this recommendation was approved.

AMENDMENT O F BICYCLE REGULATIONS

(16) A code of regulations for the registration and operation of bicycles on the campus was approved by the President of the University and reported to the Board of Trustees on Jury 26, 1960. A copy of the regulations was filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. The Vice-President and Provost has now approved an amendment of these regulations, a revised copy of which is submitted herewith, and a copy is being filed with the Secretary of the Board. This administrative action is reported for record.

On motion of Mr, Johnston, this action was confirmed.

AUTOMOBILE PARKING REGULATIONS A N D FACILITIES ' AT CHICAGO PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES

(17) Submitted herewith is a recommendation from the Vice-President in charge of the Chicago Professional Colleges, based on the report of a Committee on Parking and Traffic appointed by ham, for a plan of paid parking facilities for faculty, staff, and students at the Chicago Professional Colleges, A copy of the complete report is being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. In brief, the plan provides for control of parking in existing improved parking lots, funds for expansion and improvement of parking facilities, and parking fees to be assessed in accordance with the following schedule: Reserved spaces for daytime use only, Mondays through Fridays: Faculty and Staff. $42 00

Controlled-access lots Faculty and Staff 24 00 Students 18 00 Gate-controlled lots for occasional use by part-time faculty and visitors 0.20 per day I recommend approval of the plan as submitted, including authorization al appropriate regulations for its implementation and of the parking fees, the income therefrom to be used for the extension and improvement of parking facilities.

On motion of Mr, Swain, this recommendation was approved, and authority was given as requested.

CONTRACT FOR CAMPUS BUS SERVICE

(18) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend authorization of _ a contract with the Champaign-Urbana City LUKS. Inc., for a campus bus service for students and staff along the lines of the1 » ! service operated under a University^ contract last year — named "Illi Bus" bj IS* student leaders who assisted in setting it up — but expanded to include transpor-s tation service for the Orchard Downs area and extended to include evening i»<w and Saturdays and Sundays. The specific recommendations are that: Authority be granted to continue the Illi Bus operation during the 1961-62 academic year, starting September 11, 1961, with:
