BOARD OF TRUSTEES

[August 10

Cincinnati, Ohio, the lowest bidder, for erection of mechanical equipment (Division "8-P") on the addition (Boiler No. 6, Unit No. 7) to the Abbott Power p\m now under construction. Funds are available in the state capital reappropriations to the University fM 1961-63 and are subject to release by the Governor. Submitted herewith is a report from the Physical Plant Department on this project, including a schedule of the bids received, a copy of which is being fifej with the Secretary of the Board for record. I concur.

On motion of Mr. Johnston, this contract was awarded, subject to availability and release of funds, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Johnston, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, none.

CONTRACTS FOR REMODELING IN BEV1ER HALL FOR ELECTRON MICROSCOPE CENTER

(9) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend awards of contracts as follows for remodeling of the north basemoit of Bevier Hall for quarters for an Electron Microscope Center, the award in each case being to the lowest bidder: General — Dean Evans Company, Champaign $29 379 O C Electrical — Potter Electric Service, Inc., Urbana 17 462 00 Plumbing —George S. Walker Plumbing and Heating, Inc., Decatur.. 21 757 00 Heating and Refrigeration — F. R. Inskip and Company, Champaign.. 16 290 00 Ventilating — F. R, Inskip and Company, Champaign 18 383 00 Laboratory Equipment — Sheldon Equipment Company, Muskegon, Michigan 12 676 95 Total Contracts $115 947 95 It is recommended that a single contract for $34,673 be awarded to F, R, Inskip and Company, the lowest bidder on both heating and refrigeration and o n ventilating. Funds are available from the following sources: National Science Foundation Grant $ 86 600 O H University Research Board 39 200 0 0 Nonrecurring Appropriation from the General Reserve (assignment previously made by the Board for this project) 59 100 0 0 Total $184 900 C O Submitted herewith is a report from the Physical Plant Department on this project, including a schedule of the bids received, a copy of which is being fiM with the Secretary of the Board for record. ADDITION TO CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF GRADUATE STUDENT RESIDENCE HALL

(10) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Compm* recommend an increase of $7,693,02 in the contract with Johnson, Drake, an" Piper, Inc., for construction of the Graduate Student Residence Hall (SG-2) to prepare the site for walk and terrace paving and landscaping. Separate bids *'" be taken later for the walks and landscaping but it is desirable, and more economical, that preparation of the site be done in connection with the rough gn(» which the genera! contractor is required to do. The change orders will cotff additional grading and underground electrical and drainage work which the gew3, contractor is well equipped to do in conjunction with his completion operates. The other contracts for the construction of this building have been aswp* to the genera! contractor and payments will be made to: Johnson, Drake, and Piper, Inc (J 'Jr. * Knight Electric Company, Inc., for additional electrical work lw •
