The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend renewal of the contract with this firm for another year for the following assignments, subject to the availability and release of funds: Consulting services on projects currently under construction, for which funds are available in various project budgets, estimated cost, $9,000, Consulting services on projects currently under study and scheduled for construction for which planning funds have been included in the 1961-62 building program, estimated cost, $4,000. Payments will be for services as rendered in accordance with the standard professional rates established in the existing contract. I concur. On motion of Mr. Hughes, renewal of this contract, on the terms recommended, was authorized.

EMPLOYMENT OF CONSULTANT ON FOOD SERVICE FACILITIES FOR ORCHARD DOWNS APARTMENTS

(18) The Director of Auxiliary Services, the Director of the Physical Plant, and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend authorization of a contract for the employment of Arthur W. Dana, Food Service Consultant, New "York City, to plan the layout of the equipment and to prepare detailed specifications tor the food service facilities for the Orchard Downs Apartments at a fee based on standard per diem rates for such services, but not to exceed $3,600. Funds are available in the construction budget for the Orchard Downs Apartments project. Submitted herewith is a supporting statement from the Director of Auxiliary Services specifying the services of the consultant and the ternis of the contract, and a copy is being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. I concur.

On motion of Mrs, Watkins, this contract was authorized,

CONTRACT FOR MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING SERVICES

(19) By authority of the Board of Trustees, the consulting engineering firm of Brown, Manthei, Davis, and Mullins, Champaign, has been employed by the University for incidental mechanical and electrical engineering services to the Physical Plant Department in the planning of new construction and remodeling ivork. This employment has been on a standing contract through which change orders have been issued for specific assignments, mostly small jobs best handled b a local firm. y This firm has been an excellent source of consulting services for snch work tor a number of years. The Director of the Physical Plant and the VicePresident and Comptroller recommend authorization of a new contract with Brown, Manthei, Davis, and Mnllins for consulting services for a period of two years beginning July 1, 1961, on the same terms and conditions as previous eontracts, viz,: a rate of $7.50 per hour for the time of the four partners, services ot other personnel to be tilled at actual hourly standard rates paid by the firm plus 100 per cent for overhead costs and commission. The cost of these consulting services will be charged against the construction budgets of the projects for which the firm is employed. I concur.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, renewal of this contract, on the terms recommended, was authorized. At this point Mr. Harewood joined the meeting,
