(3) The Institution for Tuberculosis Research was created by the General Assembly for the "production, distribution, and application of the bacillus CalmettGuerin (BCG), and other methods and materials for the prevention of tuberculosis and for conducting research in tuberculosis." The responsibility for the professional operation and all other management and control of the Institution is vested in the University. The Director of the Institution and the Acting Vice-President in charge of the Chicago Professional Colleges recommend a budget amounting to $173,000 for the 1961-63 biennium, an increase of $30,700 for the biennium over the present appropriations.
