3. Changing the four reciprocating coal feeders on the stoker to a conveyor-type coal feeder which has certain advantages over the former type. These changes will require a net increase of $3,726 in the contract. I concur.

On motion of Mr. Swain, this change in contract was authorized.

CONTRACT FOR STRUCTURAL, STEEL FOR ADDITION TO ABBOTT POWER PLANT

(13) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend award of a contract to Clonick Steel Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for structural steel members and accessory steel materials for the addition to the Abbott Power Plant (Boiler No. 6, Unit No. 7). The contract will be based on the following prices per pound and estimated quantities: Secondary Column Structural Coal Structural Anchor Members Bunker Members Bolts J3S Tons 35 Tons 30 Tons 0.3 Tons £0.1132 JO.1582 J0.1M4 £0.1616 The quantities of the various classifications of structural steel indicated above are based on preliminary estimates of that required, and the total tonnage may vary from that slated by IS to 20 per cent when detailed drawings are developed. Submitted herewith is a report from the Physical Plant Department, including a list of all bids received, in support of this proposal, and a copy is being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. Funds are available in the stale capital appropriations to the University for 1959-61, subject to release of funds by the Governor. I concur in the recommendation for the award of the contract subject to the release of funds. (14) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $8,800 to the Melville Corporation, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for installing a traffic deck roof covering on four permanent deck areas of the Illinois Neuropsychiatric Institute building to rehabilitate deteriorated deck areas. Funds are available in the Physical Plant budget. I concur. On motion of Mr. Swain, this contract was awarded, as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Harewood, M r . CONTRACT FOR KITCHEN EQUIPMENT FOR RESEARCH A N D EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS

(15) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $2,888 to the Stearnes Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for the installation of kitchen cabinets, counters, and other equipment in the Research and Educational Hospitals. Funds have been budgeted in the appropriation for "Research and Educational Dietary Department." I concur.
