RECOMMENDATION OF THE UNIVERSITY PATENT COMMITTEE (4) The University Patent Committee submits, with the concurrence of the Chairman of the University Research Board, the following recommendation relating to an invention by members of the staff. Coprophagy-preventing animal cage — B. Connor Johnson, Professor of Animal Biochemistry, Louis Nash, Junior Laboratory Attendant in the Department of Animal Science, and Ryland E. Webb, Graduate Student, inventors. The invention consists of an animal cage having the form of a continuous tunnel which permits the animal to move forward without obstruction, but does not permit movement in a vertical or horizontal direction. It is so constructed that at least the floor ot the cage is perforated or slotted to permit fecal material to fall out of reach ot the animal. The University Patent Committee has voted to recommend the release of the rights to this invention to the inventors if they indicate an interest in obtaining a patent and the release of the rights to the sponsoring agency, the United States Office of the Surgeon General, if it is the decision of the inventors not to file for a patent. I concur in this recommendation. O n m o t i o n of M r . S w a i n , t h i s r e c o m m e n d a t i o n w a s a p p r o v e d .
