I, , do hereby certify that I am the duly elected, qualified and acting Secretary of The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, and as such official have charge and custody of the minutes and records of said Board of Trustees. I further certify that the attached resolution is a true, correct and exact copy of the original resolution adopted by The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at its legally convened meeting held on the 24th day of May, 1962, all as appears of record in my office. NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION GRANT TO IMPROVE SCHOOL MATHEMATICS (36) The University has for the past ten years conducted research and experimentation in the development of new curriculum and teaching methods for school mathematics under the supervision of the University of Illinois Committee on School Mathematics. Thus far the work has been concentrated on Grades 9 through 12. The National Science Foundation has now offered the University $385,820 to develop and experiment with a new curriculum for Grades 7 through 12. These funds would also provide for completion of a series of teacher-training films and experimentation for program instruction. A condition of the grant is: "Income derived from rents or royalties, or from the sale of books, films, patents, or other property rights conceived or developed under this grant shall be kept by the grantee in a separate account and shall be utilized by the grantee in ways approved or determined by the Foundation." The Dean of the College of Education, the Chairman of the University Research Board, the Executive Vice-President and Provost, and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend that this grant be accepted. I concur, subject to further action by the Board of Higher Education of Illinois.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, this recommendation was approved.

GIFT FROM ROBERT R. McCORMICK CHARITABLE TRUST FOR STUDENT REHABILITATION CENTER (37) The Trustees of the Robert R. McCormick Charitable Trust have made a grant of $100,000 to the University for the Student Rehabilitation Center. I have accepted this grant on behalf of the University and recommend that it be applied on the construction of the Medical Services Unit of the proposed Rehabilitation Center, and that the Unit be named for the late Colonel Robert R. McCormick. The earmarking of the grant for the Medical Services Unit meets with the approval of the Trustees of the Robert R. McCormick Charitable Trust.

On motion of Mr. Williamson, these recommendations were approved. SECRETARY'S REPORTS The Secretary presented for record the following lists: ( 1 ) appointments made by the President; ( 2 ) graduate fellows; ( 3 ) resignations and declinations; ( 4 ) leaves of absence; ( 5 ) cancellation of sabbatical leave of absence.
