tion would be adoption of an ordinance by the City Council of Chicago, and that such an ordinance was being introduced today. Presidents Clement and Henry and Mr. Johnston expressed, on behalf of the Board of Trustees and University officials, appreciation of the excellent cooperation they had received from Mr. Duba and his associates in the negotiations for the acquisition of the Congress Circle Campus. On motion of Mr. Johnston, a contract with the Chicago Land Clearance Commission for the acquisition of the Congress Circle site in accordance with the terms and conditions indicated was authorized by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Clement, Mr. Dilliard, Mr. Harewood, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Pogue, Mr. Swain, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Wilkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Kerner.

CONTRACTS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF CENTRAL. RECEIVING WAREHOUSE (25) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend awards of the following contracts for construction of the first unit of a Central Receiving Warehouse, the award in each case being to the lowest bidder: General — Kuhne-Simmons Company, Inc., Champaign $125 132 Base Bid $124 132 Additive Alternate for adjustable dock loading ramp 1 000 Electrical — Square Deal Electrical Contracting Company, Inc., Urbana 14 300 Base Bid $ 13 400 Additive Alternate to provide for airconditioning in office areas 900 Plumbing— David W . Reichard Plumbing and Heating, Urbana 8 200 Heating, Piping, Refrigeration, and Automatic Temperature Control Systems — F. R. Inskip and Company, Champaign 12 000 Base Bid $ 8 000 Additive Alternate to provide for airconditioning in office area 4 000 Ventilating and Distribution System for Conditioned Air — Reliable Plumbing and Heating Company, Champaign 9 982 Base Bid $ 9 764 Additive Alternate to provide for airconditioning office area 218 Total $169 614 Funds are available in the state capital appropriations to the University for 1961-63 from the Universities Building Fund and in the Office Supply Equipment Reserve Fund. Submitted herewith is a supporting memorandum from the Physical Plant Department, including a schedule of all bids received, a copy of which is being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. I concur.

CONTRACT FOR REMODELING IN RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS (26) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $3,382.55 to the R S R Construction Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for remodeling in the Research and Educational Hospitals. The work will include installation of utilities and connections with laboratory furniture, air conditioning, and new lighting in the conversion of Room 332 into a pulmonary physiology laboratory.
