OMER BENN, Instructor in the Institute of Aviation — leave of absence, without pay, for two months beginning July 1, 1967, to work on a project in developing classroom materials. HERBERT C. D E LEY, JR., Associate Professor of French — leave of absence, without pay, for the academic year 1967-68, to serve as Visiting Professor at the University of California at Riverside. CHARLES H A M M , Professor of Music — leave of absence, without pay, for the academic year 1967-68, to accept a Guggenheim Fellowship. BRAJ B. KACHRU, Assistant Professor of Linguistics — leave of absence, without pay, for one year from September 1, 1967, in order to accept the appointment of Faculty Research Fellow by the American Institute for Indian Studies in India. DONALD W. LATHRAP, Associate Professor of Anthropology — leave of absence, without pay, for the first semester of 1967-68, to execute a research project in Peru. DRAGUTIN MAKSIC, Associate Professor of Veterinary Clinical Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine — leave of absence, without pay, from May 1 through June IS, 1967, in order to study and write the New York State Board examination for Veterinarian. WILLIAM M. ROGGE, Research Assistant Professor of Special Education and in the Curriculum Laboratory, College of Education — continuation of leave of absence, without pay, for one year from September 1, 1967. PAUL R. SHAFFER, Professor of Geology — continuation of leave of absence, without pay, for the academic year 1967-68, in order to accept assignment with the Office of International Science Activities of the National Science Foundation. MARJORIE A. SOUDER, Counselor in Teacher Education, College of Education, and Assistant Professor of Physical Education for Women, College of Physical Education — leave of absence, without pay, for the academic year 1967-68, in order to pursue doctoral study at the University of Wisconsin.

REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD

President Johnston called attention to the schedule of the next four meetings of the Board of T r u s t e e s : July 26 in Urbana, September 20 at Chicago Circle, October 18 in Urbana, and November 10 in Urbana. EXECUTIVE SESSION

President Johnston announced that an executive session had been requested and was being ordered for consideration of reports and recommendations relating to property acquisitions. On motion of Mr. Swain, the Board recessed for five minutes. When the Board reconvened, the following reports and recommendations from the President of the University were presented and considered.

ACQUISITION O F P R O P E R T Y AT 1 0 0 3 W E S T S P R I N G F I E L D AVENUE, URBANA (41) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend the purchase of the property at 1003 West Springfield Avenue, Urbana, at a price of $29,000, subject to funds being made available by the Seventy-fifth General Assembly and any required releases thereof by the Governor. The property is required in the long-range expansion program of the University, and can be used for temporary housing until it is required for parking or building construction. The property consists of a lot of 66 feet by 132 feet (8,712 square feet) and is improved with a two-story frame rooming house. I concur.
