CONTRACT FOR LABORATORY EQUIPMENT FOR MEDIA SERVICE IN THE SECOND UNIT OF THE DENTISTRY-MEDICINE-PHARMACY BUILDING. MEDICAL CENTER (15) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $7,393 to Metalab Equipment Company, Chicago, the second lowest bidder, for furnishing and setting in place laboratory equipment in the Media Service of the Research and Educational Hospitals at the Medical Center, located in the second unit of the Dentistry-Medicine-Pharmacy Building. Media Service furnishes media for the hospitals and can only be closed during June, July, and August. The lowest bidder can not meet this schedule since he gives an unusually long time for completion (two hundred seventy days). The second lowest bidder can complete within one hundred fifty days, which will meet the schedule. Funds are available from state capital appropriations for 1965-67 and have been released. I concur. O n m o t i o n of M r . S w a i n , t h i s c o n t r a c t w a s a w a r d e d b y t h e following vote: Aye, M r . Clement, M r . Grimes, M r . H a h n , M r . H u g h e s , M r . FORMALIZATION OF CHANGE IN CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SINGLE GRADUATE RESIDENCE HALLS, URBANA (16) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend that formal action be taken by the Board to extend the time of construction of the Single Graduate Residence Halls (SG-3) at Urbana in the contract with McCarthy Bros. Construction Company, St. Louis, Missouri, by one hundred seventeen days at no change in the contract price. Even though the building has been completed and occupied by the University since December, 1965, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has recently advised the University that, prior to approval by the Department of completion of the project, a resolution ratifying the above change must be adopted by the Board of Trustees. Accordingly, adoption of the following resolution to comply with the requirements of the Department of Housing and Urban Development is recommended. Resolution Resolved, that The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois does hereby approve, concur in and ratify the issuance of a change in the contract dated February 19, 1964, with the McCarthy Bros. Construction Company, St. Louis, Missouri, for the construction of Single Graduate Residence Halls (SG-3) to extend the actual construction period 117 days beyond the contract completion date and does hereby waive damages which may have accrued as the result of the completion date being extended 117 days. LEASES WITH THE ILLINOIS BUILDING AUTHORITY (17) T h e Board of Trustees on September 22, 1965, authorized the Comptroller and Secretary of the Board to execute the necessary documents to permit the Illinois Building Authority to proceed with certain University projects which the Seventy-fourth General Assembly of the State of Illinois had declared to be in the public interest.
