DEANSHIP OF COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES, CHICAGO CIRCLE (4) The Chancellor at Chicago Circle has recommended the appointment of Daniel C. McCluney, Jr., presently Professor and Head of the Department of German, as Professor of German on indefinite tenure and Acting Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Chicago Circle for one year from September 1, 1966, at an annual salary of $24,000 on a twelve months' service basis. Professor McCluney will succeed Acting Dean Stanley L. Jones who will return to full-time service in the Department of History as its Chairman. The Dean of the Graduate College and the Executive Vice-President and Provost concur in this recommendation. I have approved this appointment and request confirmation of my action. DEAN OF STUDENT AFFAIRS, CHICAGO CIRCLE (5) The Chancellor at Chicago Circle has recommended the appointment of Robert E. Corley, Professor of Sociology at Chicago Circle, as Professor of Sociology on indefinite tenure and Acting Dean of Student Affairs at Chicago Circle for one year from September 1, 1966, at an annual salary of $16,500 on a twelve months' service basis. Dean Corley will replace Dean Robert M. Crane who is now Staff Associate in the Chancellor's Office. The Dean of the Graduate College and the Executive Vice-President and Provost concur. I have approved this appointment and request confirmation of my action. O n m o t i o n of M r . J o h n s t o n , t h i s a p p o i n t m e n t w a s c o n f i r m e d . DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS AND RECORDS, CHICAGO CIRCLE (6) Leslie W. Sandy, formerly Assistant University Dean of Admissions and Records at Urbana, has been appointed Director of Admissions and Records at Chicago Circle beginning September 1, 1966, at an annual salary of $16,000 on a twelve months' service basis. I request confirmation of this appointment which will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Director H . E. Temmer who has accepted a position in California. O n m o t i o n of M r . H u g h e s , t h i s a p p o i n t m e n t w a s c o n f i r m e d . HEADSHIP OF DEPARTMENT OF RECREATION AND MUNICIPAL PARK ADMINISTRATION, URBANA (7) The Dean of the College of Physical Education recommends the appointment of Dr. Allen V. Sapora, presently a member of the faculty of the College, as P r o fessor of Recreation, on indefinite tenure, and as Head of the Department of Recreation and Municipal Park Administration, beginning September 1, 1966, at an annual salary of $16,800, divided: $15,800 as Professor of Recreation, and $1,000 as Head of the Department of Recreation and Municipal P a r k Administration, on an academic year service basis. Professor Charles K. Brightbill, who served as Head of the Department since it was established in 1957, died on August 23. H e had previously asked to be relieved of his administrative responsibilities to devote more time to teaching, research, and writing.
