LIEBERTHAL, MILFRED, Associate Professor of Labor and Industrial Relations and in the Division of University Extension (Urbana) — extension of leave of absence, without pay, through August 31, 1967, so that he may continue his work under the Adult Education Program in the United States Office of Education. SCHOUSBOE, INGVAR, Professor of Architectural Engineering (Urbana)-—leave of absence, without pay, for the academic year 1966-67, so that he may accept the presidency of C. A. Metz Engineers, Inc., of Chicago. SLANKER, M R S . BARBARA O., Research Associate in the Library Research Center, Graduate School of Library Science (Urbana) —leave of absence, without pay, for one year beginning September 1, 1966, so that she may study and do research for her doctor's degree in the Graduate School of Library Science at the University of Illinois. SOUDER, MARJORIE A., Assistant Professor of Physical Education for Women in the College of Physical Education, and Counselor in Teacher Education, in the Council on Teacher Education, Teacher Training Counseling, College of Education (Urbana) — leave of absence, without pay, for the academic year 1966-67, so that she may study for her doctor's degree at the University of Wisconsin. TRAVERS, KENNETH J., Assistant Professor of Secondary and Continuing Education (Urbana) —leave of absence, without pay, for the academic year 1966-67, so that he may participate in the Stanford University postdoctoral program for training research workers in education. UCHIYAMA-CAMPBELL, MRS. FUMIYO, Research Associate in Computer Science in the Graduate College (Urbana) — leave of absence, without pay, for one month beginning August 1, 1966. WALTON, CONSTANCE R., Instructor in Audiology in the Department of Otolaryngology in the College of Medicine — leave of absence, without pay, for two months beginning July 1, 1966. MR. ROBERT E. MERRIAM President Clement announced that M r . Robert E. M e r r i a m , President of University Patents, Inc., has been invited to be a guest at luncheon today and to discuss with the T r u s t e e s in conference this afternoon the operations of University Patents, Inc. RECESS AND EXECUTIVE SESSION P r e s i d e n t Clement announced that an executive session has been requested and was being ordered for consideration of property acquisitions and that this session will be held after the luncheon recess. O n motion of M r . H u g h e s , the Board recessed. W h e n the Board reconvened, the same m e m b e r s of the Board, officers of the Board, and officers of the University were present as recorded at the beginning of these minutes, except M r . R a y P a g e who asked to be excused because of another engagement he had in the afternoon. T h e Board considered the following recommendations from the President of the University. PURCHASE OF PROPERTY AT 1 O O l WEST ILLINOIS STREET, URBANA (40) T h e Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend that the LTniversity of Illinois Foundation be requested to purchase the property at 1001 West Illinois Street, Urbana, Illinois, at a price of $53,500 and lease the property to the University at a rental sufficient to pay the interest costs on a loan to the Foundation to finance acquisition of the property. It consists of a lot 65 feet by ISO feet and is improved with a three-story and basement frame rooming house with a capacity of thirty-one men. T h e property will be razed and the area will be used as a temporary parking lot. I concur.
