the continuous improvement and expansion of courses in gymnastics, corrective exercise, dance, and sports. She served effectively as President of the National Association of Directors of Physical Education for Women and as a member of numerous state, district, and national professional physical education organizations. As Head of the Department of Physical Education for Women, Miss Freer was instrumental in planning for the building with which this recommendation deals. On motion of Mr. Grimes, this recommendation was approved.

APPROPRIATIONS FOR NONRECURRING EXPENDITURES. CHICAGO CIRCLE AND MEDICAL CENTER

(17) After review by the Committees on Nonrecurring Appropriations at the Chicago Circle and Medical Center campuses, the respective Chancellors recommend the following appropriations from the funds indicated: Chicago Circle General Reserve Central Duplicating, equipment $ 24 600 00 Medical Center General Reserve College of Medicine Department of Anatomy, teaching materials 21 000 00 Research and Educational Hospitals Hospital Laboratories, equipment 20 000 00 Department of Neurology and Neurological Surgery, equipment 19 575 00 Department of Radiology, equipment 28 655 00 Renovation and remodeling for which funds are assigned to the Physical Plant Department: Remodeling Clinical Laboratories for the Research and Educational Hospitals 15 120 00 Remodeling in the basement of the Physical Environment Building for the Physical Plant Department 2? 000 00 Total, Medical Center General Reserve $131 350 00 Grand Total $ISS 9S0 00 The Executive Vice-President and Provost and the Vice-President and Comptroller concur. APPROPRIATION BY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

(18) The Board of Directors of the Athletic Association approved an appropriation of $27,000 in order to proceed with the preparation of a contract with Daily and Associates, Engineers, Inc., Champaign, to draw specifications and plans for the purpose of procurement of bids for the development of land on the north side of the golf course, Savoy. Confirmation of this appropriation is requested. On motion of Mr. Hughes, this assignment of funds was confirmed.

CONTRACTS FOR REMODELING RACINE AVENUE BUILDING. CHICAGO CIRCLE

(19) The President of the University, with the concurrence of appropriate administrative officers, recommends award of construction contracts for remodeling portions of the first and second floors of the Racine Avenue Building for the use of the Office of Admissions and Records, Chicago Circle, the award in each case to the lowest bidder: Genera! — Heller Construction Company, Inc., Chicago $113 000 00 Plumbing and Drainage—E.
