(11) With the advice of the Dean of the Graduate College, the Chancellor at Urbana has recommended the following appointments of Associates in the Center for Advanced Study for the academic year 1970-71 and for the program of research or study as indicated in each case. I concur. ADAMS, JACK A., Professor of Psychology, for the first semester, to enlarge and refine his theoretical work on a cybernetic conception of behavior. BAILAR, JOHN C , J R . , Professor of Chemistry, for the first semester, to continue research and writing on the chemistry of coordination compounds. BEBERMAN, M A X , Professor of Secondary and Continuing Education and Director of the Curriculum Laboratory, for one year, to learn and evaluate the new style of teaching in British primary schools. BREMS, H A N S J., Professor of Economics, for the first semester, to develop a realistic two-sector model of economic growth in a closed system. BRUNER, EDWARD M., Professor and Head of the Department of Anthropology, for the academic year, to describe and analyze data gathered in Indonesia for a study of socio-cultural factors in development and urbanization. EXLINE, GERALD L., Associate Professor of Architecture, for the academic year, to design typological models of high density environments for cities of the future. FEHL, PHILIPP, Professor of Art, for the academic year, to complete a study of the historical content of the works of Paolo Veronese. HAY, PETER, Professor of Law, for the second semester, to examine the effect of regional integration and of the law of regional institutions in Europe on judicial, administrative, and arbitration practices. KRUEGER, THOMAS A., Associate Professor of History, for the second semester, to complete research and begin writing on an intellectual history of the New Deal. LANCASTER, EDWARD E., Assistant Professor of Art, for the academic year, to continue work on a series of paintings depicting the human figure juxtaposed to symbols of the current American social environment. LONDON, EDWIN, Professor of Music, for the academic year, to compose a largescale theatre work fusing elements of traditional music with electronic technology.
