292 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [February 19 asked the President of the University for a report on the program, and at President Henry's request the Chancellor at Urbana-Champaign reviewed in some detail the background and operating rules for the program. 1 Mr. Swain expressed his belief that the experiment should be suspended. After extended discussion by other members of the Board, Mr. Grimes moved that the subject be referred to the Committee on General Policy for further investigation and continuing review and evaluation. The Committee would be expected to report to the Board from time to time during the trial period. (The motion was made with the understanding that the trial period would go forward as planned.) The motion was approved. The Trustees also requested an opportunity to meet with students and others interested in the program at an early occasion as a part of the evaluation and review process. A meeting for this purpose will be scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, March 18, Urbana.
