APPOINTMENT OF ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC COORDINATION

(5) In a separate paper mailed to the Board of Trustees prior to this meeting, I outlined the general structure and future objectives for the Office of Academic Development and Coordination. That report was referred to in the April, 1972, action establishing the office and reiterated the three basic responsibilities assigned to the academic Vice President. One of those responsibilities relates to the function of academic coordination: The coordination of the operation of the various components of the University to insure that the University functions as an organic university rather than as an aggregate of unrelated campuses and capitalizes upon the advantages of its resources as a system. Two years after the reorganization statement significant progress has been made toward this goal, but it is necessary to reaffirm our commitment to the development of University-wide programmatic and support systems where such
