International Harvester Company, through its Kankakee, Illinois, office, a demonstration combine for the use of the Department of Agricultural Engineering. 13. Link-Belt Company of Chicago, a stoker to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. 14. Butler Manufacturing Company, $94.12 for a study of soybean storage in 1042. 15. American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Illinois, $50 as an award for the promotion of small bore rifle practice, and $50 for the Student Colonel award. 16. United Spanish W a r Veterans, Department of Illinois, $50 to be awarded to the outstanding second-year basic course cadet in Pershing Rifles at the close of the academic year 1941-1942. 17. Illinois Society of Engineers, $35 toward the expense of the Fifth Annual Surveying Conference which was held on March 5 and 6, 1942. 18. Mr. W . M. Milbourne, Chicago, an alumnus of the University, $21 as an addition to the Consolidated Student Loan Fund. 19. Mrs. R. E. Hieronymus, a collection of books, pamphlets, lantern slides, and other items collected by the late Dr. R. E. Hieronymus in his work as Community Adviser. Grants for Continuation of Agreements for Cooperative Investigations 1. Monsanto Chemical Company, St. Louis, Missouri, $750 for the continuation of an agreement for a cooperative investigation of insecticides for one year from July 15, 1942. 2. Liberty Chemical Laboratories, $150 for the continuation of the cooperative investigation of greenhouse insecticides from March 1 to June I, 1942. Grants for Research 1. Nutrition Research Laboratories, $3,300 for research investigations of Ertron (Vitamin D ) , to be carried on under the direction of Dr. C. I. Reed of the College of Medicine. 2. E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, $750 for the continuation of a postgraduate fellowship in Chemistry, and $2,000 for the continuation of a postdoctorate fellowship in Chemistry (under Professor H . R. Snyder) for the year 1942-1043. 3. Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, $2400 in support of research work on the shock-absorbing capacity of structural steel members under high-speed loading and related problems, by Professor W. M. Wilson of the Department of Civil Engineering. 4. Upjohn Company, $2,200 for a post-doctorate research assistantship in Chemistry under the direction of Dr. H . E. Carter. 5. Parke, Davis, and Company, $2,000 for the continuation of research work in renal hypertension. 6. Diversey Corporation, Chicago, $2,000 for research on the use of various abrasives, detergents, and other preparations in the cleaning of dairy utensils by the Agricultural Experiment Station for one year beginning June I, 1042. 7. American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers, $1,575 for the continuation of air conditioning research. 8. Allied Chemical & Dye Corporation, New York City, $1,500 for two fellowships in organic chemistry with stipends of $750 each for the academic year 1042-1943. 9. Cerophyl Laboratories, Inc., Kansas City, Missouri, $1,200 for the support of the researches of Dr. F . L. Wynd, of the Department of Botany, for the academic year 1042-1943. 10. Velsicol Corporation, Chicago, $1,100 for research on the insecticidal properties of certain hydrocarbon products which have been shown to have
