PROPOSED CONTRACT FOR ARMY MEDICAL UNIT (19) The Comptroller reports that a contract has been negotiated with the United States Army for training of 384 trainees in the College of Medicine on the following basis, in accordance with principles established by the Array and Navy for such contracts. Tuition Tuition fees are to be paid the University for all trainees enrolled on the basis of the non-resident tuition in the College of Medicine as follows: 105 first year @ $412 $ 43 260 116 second year @ $402 46 632 91 third year @ $455 41 405 72 fourth year @ $470 33 840 Total per year $165 137 The University is also authorized to collect direct from the trainees service fees in the Chicago Union and fees for graduation, special examinations, late registration, and change of registration, the same as assessed against civilian students. Textbooks and Instruments The University will be reimbursed for textbooks and instruments required by trainees, which are to be purchased by it and turned over to the commanding officer for issuance. T h e estimate is as follows: Textbooks (including handling charge of 5%) $21 847 93 Instruments 5 755 75 Total per year $27 603 68 Instrument Rental The Army will pay the University rental fees for microscopes owned by the University and rented by it to trainees at the rate of $4 and $5 a quarter for different types of instruments. The Comptroller requests authority to execute with the Secretary of the Board a contract with these provisions. I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Davis, the execution of this contract was authorized as recommended.

PROPOSED CONTRACT FOR A R M Y DENTAL UNIT

(20) T h e Comptroller reports that a contract has been negotiated with the U. S. Army for training of 146 trainees in the College of Dentistry on the following basis, in accordance with principles established by the Army and Navy for such contracts. Tuition Tuition fees are to be paid the University for all trainees enrolled on the basis of the non-resident tuition in the College of Dentistry as follows: 47 first year @ $412 $19 364 44 second year @ $402 17 688 29 third year @ $402 11 658 26 fourth year @ $402 10 452 Total per year $59 162 The University is also authorized to collect direct from the trainees service fees in the Chicago Union and fees for graduation, special examinations, late registration, and change of registration, the same as assessed against civilian students.
