Urbana-Champaign Campus Architectural studies for future buildings $15 000 Completion of written report on the 1959-61 development plans. Continuation of studies on the 1959-69 development plan, including revisions, and the development of a detailed program for the various college areas. Continuation and refinement of the general development plan beyond 1969. Feasibility studies of student and staff housing and related projects.. 7 000 Miscellaneous services and architectural studies for future buildings 12 000 These services to be on specific projects as funds for them become available, the cost of these services to be paid from project funds. T h e terms of the contract will be the same as those in previous contracts with this firm except for changes in standard hourly rates of personnel employed. Payments will be based on payroll costs plus 100 per cent for overhead and commission. CONTRACTS FOR FUEL FOR THE CHICAGO UNDERGRADUATE DIVISION A N D THE MEDICAL CENTER STEAM PLANT AT THE CHICAGO PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES Coal for Medical C e n t e r S t e a m P l a n t (24) The Director of the Physical Plant, the Business Manager of the Chicago Colleges and Divisions, and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend award of a contract to the Diamond Coal and Oil Company, 1074 West Division Street, Chicago, Illinois, the lowest bidder, for 3S,0co tons of screenings coal to be delivered to the Medical Center Steam Company plant, operated by the University, as required during the period September 1, 1959, to June 30, i960, at a per ton cost of $3.25, plus transportation of $3.23, plus $1.04 for handling, storage, and delivery, or a total estimated cost of $263,200. This price is based on present wage scales and is subject to increase or decrease in the event wage contracts or freight rates now in effect are changed and any such change affects the price. The University has the right of approval of any such increase in price. The lowest bid is determined by the number of British Thermal Units per one cent of cost, based on guaranteed analysis. A continuous check is provided to insure compliance with the specifications. Fuel Oil for Medical Center Steam Plant The aforesaid officers also recommend the purchase of a minimum of 8,000 gallons of No. 6 fuel oil with the option of purchasing as much more as may be required for emergency use, but not to exceed 450,000 gallons, for the 1959-6° heating season, from the Jewett and Sowers Oil Company, 2580 South Archer Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, the lowest bidder, at a price not to exceed $o.o859P er gallon subject to adjustment in accordance with the posted price variations published in the "Oil Daily." On the basis of the maximum price quoted, the total cost of 8,000 gallons would be $687.20, and of 450,000 gallons, $38,655.
