(17) The 1959-61 building program includes the following additions to the Abbott Power Plant to service existing and proposed new buildings: Estimated Costs Boiler No. 6 — a 150,000 lb./hour steam generator $2 050 000 Turbine No. 7 — a 7,500 kw. electric generator 1 995 000 This additional generating capacity is required regardless of how many buildings are included in the 1959-61 program and it will take two years for the fabrication and installation of this equipment. It is therefore necessary that engineering work be undertaken promptly to complete the installations within the biennium. The building program projected for 1959-61 also includes the following extensions of the steam and electrical distribution systems required to service the proposed new buildings: . Estimated Costs Steam tunnel on Oak Street from Peabody Drive extended south to the south side of Florida Avenue and east to the approximate mid-point between First Street and Fourth Street to serve the Assembly Hall and other development proposed in this area $ 925 000 Steam tunnel from the Natural History Building-Noyes Chemistry Laboratory tunnel west to the existing tunnel north of the Administration Building to serve the Mini Union and other buildings in this area 300 000 Steam conduit from the end of the tunnel on Florida Avenue, referred to above, south to the Assembly Hall 40 000 Electric conduit, manholes, cable, and switchgear in load center to serve the Assembly Hall 41 000 Rerouting main campus feeder conduit and cables between Mini Union addition and Harker Hall, including conduit, manholes and cable to serve the Mini Union Building addition 50 000 Load center vault in the vicinity of Sixth Street and Gregory Drive, including conduit, manholes, cable, and switchgear to the Education Building 180 000 Engineering service to complete plans and specifications for electric distribution center and load center to be located north of the Stock Pavilion, including conduit, manholes, cable, and switchgear which will eventually serve the women's residence halls, the Education Building, and the Plant Sciences Building (588 000) The cost of engineering services for completion of plans and specifications up to the receipt of bids for this is approximately $30,000. Bids will be received on February 20, 1959, on the construction of the Assembly Hall and in August on the construction of the addition to the Mini Union Building. It is therefore necessary that engineering work on the above listed projects be started soon in order to maintain construction schedules.
