minutes of today's meeting to become a part of the official public record, and that a suitable copy be given you as a permanent reminder of the esteem and affection in which you are held. Chicago, Illinois On the nineteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-nine and in the ninety-second year of the University.

Mr. Swain offered the following resolution and moved its adoption:

T o Park Livingston The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby records your eighteen years of continuous service as a member of this Board and gratefully expresses its appreciation for your vigorous and competent leadership as its President for ten years, in the periods from 1943 to 1948, again from 1951 to 1954, and most recently from 1957 to 1959. Your long and diversified experience in the University, in your earlier years as a student leader, as a member of the staff, and later as a member of this Board of Trustees, have given you depth of understanding of this institution which, coupled with your energy and devotion, have provided it with extraordinary service. It should be noted that your services during the past eighteen years included the critical World W a r II and postwar periods when policy and planning decisions were significant in shaping the future of the University. T h e list of the University's accomplishments in the expansion of its services during your tenure as Trustee and as President of the Board would be too lengthy to recount here, but three significant programs to which you made special contributions should be mentioned: the establishment of the College of Veterinary Medicine; the construction of the University of Illinois Airport and the establishment of the Institute of Aeronautics; and the establishment of the Chicago and Galesburg Undergraduate Divisions. Special recognition is also due your sixteen years as a member of the important Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees and your work on all of the other standing committees on four of which you served as Chairman. Your services as a member of the Medical Center Commission and as a Director of the University of Illinois Foundation should also be recorded as significant contributions to the welfare of the University. The President and other administrative officers of the University wish to join with the Board of Trustees in this tribute to you and in extending best wishes to you and Mrs. Livingston. The Board of Trustees directs that this resolution be incorporated in the minutes of today's meeting to become a part of the official public record, and that a suitable copy be given you as a permanent reminder of the esteem and affection in which you are held. Chicago, Illinois On the nineteenth day of February, nineteen hundred and fifty-nine, and in the ninety-second year of the University.

The foregoing resolutions of tribute to Mrs. Doris S. Holt, Mr. Cushman B. Bissell, and Mr. Park Livingston, having been read, were unanimously adopted by a rising vote. Mr. Herrick withdrew from the Chair and President Livingston again presided.
