Miller Endowment Committee submits the following recommendation and report of its action: Undergraduate Scholarships At its meeting on January 16, 1957, the Board of Trustees approved a recommendation from the Committee on the George A. Miller Endowment that funds for undergraduate scholarships be assigned as specifically approved annually by the Board of Trustees. Accordingly, the Committee requests an assignment of $5,100 for the undergraduate scholarship program for the academic year 1958-59. I recommend approval. Graduate Fellowships T h e Committee has authorized the Graduate College to use the $3,600 (provided by the Miller Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees on December 17, 1957, for two graduate fellowships of $1,800 each) together with an additional assignment of $400 to increase the stipends of eight University graduate fellowships from $1,500 to $2,000. T h e eight fellowships will be called George A. Miller Fellowships and will be awarded to students in the nonscientific areas. This assignment is for the academic year, 1959-60, only. Confirmation of this action is requested. O n m o t i o n of M r . W i l l i a m s o n , t h e s e a s s i g n m e n t s w e r e a p p r o v e d b y the following v o t e : A y e , M r s . W O O D R O W WILSON FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM (12) T h e Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation of Princeton, New Jersey, has made a grant of $30,000 to the University of Illinois. This is a subvention for the Graduate College representing $2,000 for each of the fifteen Woodrow Wilson Fellows now enrolled at the University, and is apart from the stipends they are receiving during the current academic year, 1958-59. Threefourths of the $2,000 is to be used "for assisting beyond their first year of graduate work any students genuinely interested in a teaching career, whether or not they earlier received Woodrow Wilson Fellowships," and the other onefourth is "to be available at the discretion of the institution, for strengthening its graduate program." This fellowship program is financed by the F o r d Foundation. I have accepted the grant for the University and report this for record. This report w a s received for record.
