Stratton of M r . P a r k Livingston as C h a i r m a n of a State Citizens Committee to promote public understanding of the Universities Bond Issue. O n her motion, t h e Board voted to express its appreciation to the Governor for this action. SEPTEMBER MEETING On motion of M r s . W a t k i n s , t h e Board voted to hold its September meeting in U r b a n a , Illinois, on W e d n e s d a y , September 2 1 , as provided in the recently amended By-Laws of the Board of Trustees. EXECUTIVE SESSION At this point an executive session was requested and ordered for the consideration of the following items of business. PURCHASE OF KLASSEN FARM IN CHAMPAIGN COUNTY (30) T h e Dean of t h e College of Agriculture and Director of t h e Agricultural Experiment Station, the Director of the Physical Plant, and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend the purchase by the University of Illinois Foundation, and for subsequent acquisition by the University, from Mrs. Jane Klassen, Urbana, of a farm of between 153 and 160 acres east of the First Street road south of Champaign between present University farms and the Temple farm purchased in March, at a price of $2,000 an acre, payable in full at the time possession is given to the Foundation not later than October 1, 1961. Since the availability of state appropriations for land acquisitions during the 1061-63 biennium can not yet be determined, the Foundation has agreed to borrow up to $320,000 from the First National Bank of Chicago and to lease the Property to the University at a rental sufficient to cover the interest and other costs. Commitment to make the loan has been secured from the Bank. In the
