944 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [May 28 REGRAD1NG AND LAWN CONSTRUCTION INCIDENTAL TO CONSTRUCTION OF POWER PLANT DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM (20) T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department requests authorization to do the following work, and the release of funds from the Power Plant appropriation for this purpose: Regrading and lawn construction on conduit lines incidental to New Power Plant diversion of services $ 625 Regrading and lawn construction on steam tunnel incidental to New Power Plant diversion of services I 914 Total $2 539 This work will be done by the Physical Plant Department. On motion of Mrs. Plumb, this authority was granted and funds were released as recommended. EXTENSION OF TIME ON CONSTRUCTION OF ILLINI U N I O N BUILDING (21) T h e Federal W o r k s Agency has issued a waiver to become a part of the offer made by the United States of America to the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, dated as of June 28, 1938, accepted July 15, 1938, as amended (Docket No. 111. 1745-F), requiring completion of this project not later than May 1, 1940, and extending the time to August 31, 1940. This report was received for record. CONTRACT CHANGE ORDERS ON P.W.A. PROJECTS (22) Pursuant to the authorization of the Board of Trustees, I have approved the following contract change orders and request confirmation of such approval. lllini Union Building Change Order No. 8, contract with Phillips, Getschow Company for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning. Provide stainless steel facing for two hoods in main kitchen in ground story as indicated on Drawing 137, and as covered by quotation dated April 18, 1940—Add $624 45 Change Order No. 7, contract with the Arthur W. Murray Company for plumbing work. (1) This is to cover extra work provided incident to preparations for completion of west wing in fourth story to provide additional "hotel rooms," in accordance with estimate of March 15, 1940—Add.. $280 77 (2) Provide insulation for concealed horizontal ice water drain lines in accordance with quotation dated April 18, 1940—Add 48 40 Net Addition $329 07 (3) This covers credit allowance for omission of trimmings for plumbing fixture items which will be furnished under equipment contract. It would be better to have this work installed complete under one contract rather than to divide responsibility between two contractors—Deduct $194 06 Fifth Addition to the Library Change Order No. I, contract with J. N. Johnson Company for Linoleum, Cork, Carpet and Carpets, Group VI. Omit linoleum through center aisles of all stack units in accordance with quotation of April 17, 1940, including all linoleum, felt, cement, brass edgings, labor, etc.—Deduct $331 46
