Since it is impossible to secure new bids and complete the installation within the time limit specified [or this project, the Director of the Physical Plant Department recommends the award of the contract to the Champaign Metal Weather Strip Company. A letter from Arthur H. Krebs & Company releasing the University from any responsibility will be obtained before the contract is executed. The Physical Plant Department was authorized to get new bids (with the authorization of the Federal Works Agency if possible). CONTRACT FOR L A N D S C A P I N G AT GREGORY H A L L A N D MCKINLEY HOSPITAL (53) In awarding the contract for the landscaping of the areas around Gregory Hall and the McKinley Hospital addition to Swain Nelson & Sons Company, the lowest bidder, the Board accepted two alternates—No. I, a deduction for evergreens to be supplied by the University; No. 2, omission of lawn operations —to bring the total of the contract within the amount budgeted for this work. The Director of the Physical Plant Department reports it is now known that sufficient funds will be available, and he recommends reinstatement in this contract of alternate No. 2 at $1,978 through Change Order No. 2.
