employer, the value thereof need not be computed and added to the compensation otherwise received by the employees." It is necessary to determine the status of certain members of the staff in this respect in connection with their appointments for the coming year. I submit the attached resolution prepared by the University Counsel and the Comptroller,

On motion of Mr. Mayer, the accommodations, services, or perquisites received by persons holding the following positions during the academic year 1940-1941 shall be regarded as furnished for the convenience of the University and not as a part of the compensation received by the employee for the services rendered: the President of the University; the Superintendent of McKinley H o s p i t a l ; the technician in McKinley H o s p i t a l ; and the persons holding the positions and performing the functions and duties described in the budget under Item 12 on page 864, Items 38, 44, and 45 on page 865. Item 22 on page 867, Item 27 on page 867, Item 17 on page 8 6 0 ; Items 1 and 9 on page 907, as to living quarters and board. T h e persons holding the positions referred to in the first paragraph of this motion and performing substantially the services connected with such position shall, until further action by the Board, be regarded as receiving the accommodations, services, and perquisites referred to for the convenience of the University and not as a part of the compensation received by them for the services they render.
