PURCHASE OF LIGHTING FIXTURES (22) A recommendation that the following purchase be authorized: Fluorescent lighting fixtures for reading tables in the Law Library, 18 units, from the Klemm Reflector Company, Philadelphia, the lowest bidder, at a price of $1,150 f.o.b. Philadelphia.

On motion of Mrs. Plumb, this purchase was authorized as recommended.

PURCHASE OF CRANE (23) A recommendation that the following purchase be authorized: One link-belt speeder "60" clamshell crane complete with 35' boom, 16" wide treads Caterpillar Diesel D4600 engine, with 2-cylinder horizontal opposed, four cycle gasoline engine starter, with full set cable, tag line, and Kiesler No. 640 bucket, from the Link-Belt Speeder Corporation, the lowest bidder, at a net price of $7,035 f.o.b. factory, freight allowed to Urbana. This is to replace a "Little Giant" road crane purchased in 1924 on which an allowance of $760 has been offered. This equipment will be used for handling coal and is therefore chargeable to the State appropriation for the new P o w e r Plant. Its purchase at this time is recommended so that it will be available for handling materials during the construction of the Power Plant and Distribution System.

On motion of Mr. Wieland, this purchase was authorized as recommended.

PURCHASE OF BATH TOWELS (24) A report of the following purchase authorized by the President of the University in accordance with the University Statutes: Bath towels, name woven ribbed, 475 dozen, from Marshall Field and Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, at a price of $1,225.50 f.o.b. Urbana.

On motion of Mr. Wieland, the action of the President in authorizing this purchase was confirmed.

QUARTERLY REPORT OF THE COMPTROLLER

(25) T h e quarterly report of the Comptroller to the Board of Trustees as at September 30, 1939. A copy of this is being sent to each member of the Board. T h i s report w a s received for record. STATE APPROPRIATION FOR 19 3 9 - 1 9 4 1 (26) T h e Comptroller has been advised by the State Auditor of Public Accounts that his office has credited to the University appropriations for the biennium beginning July 1, 1939, the amount of $17,131,536 (or to the extent indicated by the Governor in his veto message as having received his approval) instead of $17,496,536, as passed by the General Assembly.

This report was received for record.

SALE O F PROPERTY IN CHICAGO (27) A statement concerning the sale of property in Chicago (see minutes, September 30, 1939, pages 558-561).

On motion of Mrs. Plumb, the following resolution was adopted, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Cleary, Mr. Jensen, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue, Mr. Wieland; no, none; absent, Mr. Adams, Mr. Horner, Mr. Karraker, Dr. Meyer.

RESOLUTION Whereas, the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois is setting up a trust pursuant to the powers vested in it by law for the purpose of remodeling certain properties in Cook County commonly known as the New Pharmacy Unit and as an integral part of such trust plan is contracting with the University
