ASSIGNMENT OF PATENTS COVERING IMPROVEMENT IN THERAPEUTIC PRODUCTS (39) T h e Secretary of the Board reports that he has received the assignment of Professor Roger Adams of his interest in the discovery disclosed in his application for U. S. Letters Patent Serial No. 272,757, filed May 10, 1939; also assignment of his interest in invention disclosed in his application for U. S. Letters Patent Serial No. 273,201, filed May 12, 1939, covering improvement in therapeutic products and improvement in therapeutic compounds.

PURCHASES AND CONTRACTS RECOMMENDED (40) A recommendation that the following purchases and contracts be authorized: 1. Laundry service for all departments of the University at Urbana during the two fiscal years beginning July 1, 1939, the White Line Laundry, Incorporated, and the Model Laundry Company of Champaign, lowest bidders, the contract to be awarded jointly and the work divided between the two. Bids were on unit prices as per schedule submitted to the Secretary of the Board. The total of the joint contract was approximately $9,00O. 2. Lumber—12,000 ft. Red Cypress, and 3,000 ft. Genuine Northern White Pine, from the Wm. C. Schreiber Lumber Company, Chicago, Illinois, the lowest bidder, at a price of $1,415. 3. Bathtowels—485 dozen, for the Departments of Physical Education for Men and Women and for the University High School, from the G & W Supply Company, Champaign, the lowest bidder, at a price of $1,159.15. 4. Uniforms for advanced course R.O.T.C. students for the year 1939-1940, estimated at 145 for mounted and 140 for unmounted student officers, from E. Y. Price and Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, at a cost of approximately $10,260. T h e United States Government pays for these uniforms. 5. Furniture for Old Illinois Union Building—62 study tables, 62 chests of drawers, 62 straight chairs, 34 arm chairs, and 8 beds, from Edwin Hinde, Chicago, the lowest bidder, at a total cost of $3,812.20 F.O.B. Urbana. P a r t of the Old Illinois Union Building is being remodeled for use as a men's dormitory and this furniture is for the equipment of the same. 6. Paper for Office Supply Store—25% Rag Bond Paper, 8,500 pounds of white and 2,400 pounds of colored, from the Dwight Brothers Paper Company, the lowest bidder, at a price of $1,510. 7. One " W h i t e " milk delivery truck, with "step and drive" device, for the Department of Dairy Husbandry, from the Triangle Motors, Urbana, Illinois, at a net price of $1,052.11 after allowance for old truck. This is to replace a truck which has been in service since July, 1934. Quotations were received from two dealers on a " W h i t e " and "International" truck. Other dealers were asked to quote but could not supply the "step and drive" type of truck. T h e net cost of the "International" truck is slightly less, but the purchase of the "White" truck is recommended because it has features which are more advantageous to the University. 8. Wood book shelving to be built and installed in the Law Library reading rooms according to University specifications, from Remington-Rand, Inc., Chicago, the lowest bidder, at a price of $4,381.74 installed. A special appropriation for this was made by the Board on April 27, 1939 (Minutes, page 287). 9. Tables for Law Library—10—4' x 14' pedestal tables and 8—4' x 10' pedestal tables, according to University specifications, from Mutschler Bros. Company, Nappanee, Indiana, the lowest bidder, at a price of $2,206. A special appropriation was made for this equipment by the Board on April 27, 1939 (Minutes, page 287).

On motion of Mrs. Plumb, these purchases and contracts were authorized as recommended.
