which will require a laboratory assistant and involve another expense item. In that case from $2,000 to $3,000 additional will be needed.

On motion of Mr. Wieland, the President was instructed to continue this study and to report at the next meeting.

REORGANIZATION OF COLLEGES OF MEDICINE, DENTISTRY, A N D PHARMACY (11) A report has just been received from the Bureau of Institutional Research in connection with a study which is being made of the reorganization of the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, with recommendations concerning improvements in the administrative and educational programs. This will be discussed with the Board at an early meeting. This report w a s received for record. RETIREMENT O F ACTING DEAN A. H. CLARK (12) Professor A. H . Clark, Acting Dean of the College of Pharmacy, will reach the retiring age of 68 on October 15, 1939. H e has asked, however, that he be retired from active service on September 1, 1930. T h e retiring allowance due in his case will be $2,325 a year.

On motion of Mr. Jensen, this request was granted.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR C. C. WILEY (14) The services of Professor C. C. Wiley, of the Department of Civil Engineering, have been requested by the State of Illinois for a survey of the State's highway system. T h e State would pay him for his time and the necessary expenses. It is not known how long this survey will require, but if Professor Wiley is permitted to undertake this service the University should be prepared to release him from his duties for the balance of the academic year. Consequently I recommend that the Board authorize the President of the University
