(5) Bids will be received at 2 o'clock p.m., December 6, in the Physical Plant Department office for the construction of the addition to the McKinley Hospital, one unit of PWA Project No. 111. 1962-F. It will be necessary to award the contracts and begin construction immediately thereafter, in order to comply with the requirements of the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works so that either the Board of Trustees or its Executive Committee should meet on that day to make the awards, or authorize the President of the Board or the President of the University to do so. Accordingly, the following resolution is offered: Whereas, the United States of America, through the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works, has made a grant of funds to the University of Illinois, to aid in the construction of a classroom building and additions to the Library and student hospital, known as PWA Project No. 111. 1962-F; and Whereas, bids for the construction of the addition to the student hospital, one of the units in the project, will be received on December 6, and construction thereon should begin during the same week in order to comply with the requirements of the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works; now therefore be it Resolved, that the Board of Trustees hereby authorizes the President of the University to award the contracts for said student hospital addition to the lowest responsible bidder; and be it further Resolved, that the Board authorizes its President and Secretary to execute such contracts as are awarded. I also recommend that the Board designate one of its members to be present at the opening of the bids as required by the University Statutes. O n motion of M r . Moschel, the above resolution was adopted, by the following vote: Aye, M r s . Freeman, Mr. K a r r a k e r , M r . Mayer, Mr. Moschel, M r s . Plumb, M r . Pogue, M r . W i e l a n d ; no, n o n e ; absent, Mr. A d a m s , M r . Cleary, M r . H o r n e r , D r . Meyer. O n motion of Mr. K a r r a k e r , Mr. A d a m s was designated to represent the Board at the opening of bids on December 6, with Mr. Moschel and M r . Pogue and any other members of the Committee on Buildings and Grounds who could attend.
