On motion of Mrs. Freeman, these committees were appointed as recommended.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE (4) A recommendation that the following leaves of absence be granted members of the staff for the reasons and periods and under the conditions indicated in each case: 1. Mrs. Ruth Crawford Freeman, Associate in H o m e Economics ( E x t e n sion), two months with full pay in addition to one month's vacation allowance during the summer of 1939 (June 20 to August 20) for the purpose of graduate study. This leave is also subject to approval by the United States Department of Agriculture. H e r salary is paid entirely from Federal funds. 2. Mrs. Leona Alexander, Stenographer in the Department of Economics, six months from J a n u a r y I, 1939, without pay, on account of illness.

On motion of Mr. Karraker, these leaves of absence were granted as recommended.
