health services for students. T h e fee increase recommended is required to maintain the current level of services and to offset inflationary impacts. While the costs to support student health services at University Center are assigned to the student service fee, a separate pharmacy fee is assessed to meet the costs of medicine and drugs for students for prescriptions written by the health service. No fee increase is recommended for FY 1984.

Student Health-Insurance Fee

At each campus, the student health insurance fee covers the cost of premiums paid to the insurance company and the cost of administering the program. Recommended increases in this fee are due to poor claim experience a n d / o r increasing costs associated with health care in general. Beginning in FY 1984, there will be a single health plan for all Chicago students. The following tables present current and proposed fee levels for the programs described above. The acting vice president for business and finance concurs in the fee levels proposed by the chancellors. I recommend approval. (For Illinois undergraduate students with financial need who hold full-value Illinois State Scholarship Commission awards, the proposed fee increases will be covered by the Illinois State Scholarship Commission.)

On motion of Dr. Donoghue, these recommendations were approved.
