BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Head, Department of Pathology, College of Medicine at Chicago, Medical Center

(12) T h e chancellor at the Medical Center has recommended the appointment of Dr. Abel L. Robertson, Jr., presently professor of pathology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, as professor of pathology on indefinite tenure and head of the department, College of Medicine at Chicago, beginning September 1, 1982, on a twelve-month service basis at an annual salary of $120,000. Dr. Robertson will succeed Dr. Samuel T. Nerenberg who resigned on August 31, 1980. Dr. Truman O . Anderson has been serving as acting head. This recommendation is made with the advice of a search committee 1 and after consulation with the members of the department. T h e vice president for academic affairs concurs. I recommend approval.

On motion of Dr. Donoghue, this appointment was approved. Chairperson, Department of History, Chicago Circle

(13) T h e chancellor at Chicago Circle has recommended the appointment of Dr. William A. Hoisington, Jr., presently associate professor of history, as chairperson of the Department of History, beginning September 1, 1982, on an academic year service basis at an annual salary of $29,518. Professor Hoisington will continue to hold the rank of associate professor on indefinite tenure. H e succeeds Professor Leo Schelbert, acting chairperson, who will return to full-time teaching. T h e nomination is made after consultation with the executive committee of the Department of History. T h e vice president for academic affairs concurs in this recommendation. I recommend approval.

(14) T h e following new appointments to the faculty of the rank of assistant professor and above, and certain administrative positions have been approved since the previous meeting of the Board of Trustees. Positions in the University are classified in the following categories and are designated in the budget by the symbols indicated.
