MINUTES APPROVED T h e press proof of die minutes of die Board of Trustees' meeting of February 13, 1986, were approved on motion of M r . Howard as were the minutes, in manuscript, of the April 10, 1986, meeting. ( T h e April submission was made t o accommodate a request under the Freedom of Information Act from an attorney representing some of diose arrested in connection widi die April meeting of die board.) BUSINESS PRESENTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY President Ikenberry recognized and introduced observers from the campus senates and from die University Senates Conference. 1 Action, Illinois Senate Appropriations Committee President Ikenberry reported action by the Senate Appropriations Committee reducing die University's appropriation bill by some 1 percent (approximately $4,500,000), in anticipation diat projected State revenues will be lower dian expected. T h e reduction is offset somewhat by an allowance m a d e for funds needed for required payments for medicare for new employees ($620,000). Overall, the president noted, the reduction applied to higher education is lower tiian in otiier sectors of State government. Senate leaders have indicated tiiat if die revenue situation improves, the reductions could be restored later. REGULAR AGENDA T h e board considered the following reports and recommendations from the president of the University. By consensus, die board agreed tiiat one vote would be taken and considered die vote on each agenda item nos. 4 dirough 18 inclusive. T h e recommendations were individually discussed but acted upon at one time. ( T h e record of board action appears at the end of each item.) Award of Certified Public Accountant Certificates (4) The Committee on Accountancy recommends that the certificate of certified public accountant be awarded under Section 5 of the Illinois Public Accounting Act of 1983 to nine candidates who have presented evidence that they are holders of valid and unrevoked certified public accountant certificates obtained by passing the uniform written examination in another state or territory of the United States and who qualify in all other respects under this provision of the law. The names of the candidates are filed with the secretary. The Committee on Accountancy, pursuant to Section 1300.160(d) of the Regulations, also recommends that the certificate of certified public accountant be awarded to thirty-six candidates who wish to transfer the examination credit earned by passing the uniform examination in another state and who have fulfilled all
