neering, has recommended the following reappointments to the Industrial Advisory Board of the college, 1 for three-year terms effective April 1985:

Products, Corning Glass Works, Coming, New York I concur in this recommendation.

On motion of Mr. Forsyth, these appointments were confirmed.

Vice Chancellor for Research and Dean of the Graduate College, Chicago

(7) The chancellor at Chicago has recommended the appointment of James J. Stukel, presently associate dean of the College of Engineering, director of the Engineering Experiment Station, and professor of mechanical engineering and environmental engineering at Urbana-Champaign, as vice chancellor for research and dean of the Graduate College, and professor of mechanical engineering on indefinite tenure, beginning September 1, 1985, on a twelve-month service basis at a n annual salary of $88,000. The vice chancellor will be responsible for integrating the research and graduate activities of the Chicago campus and for creating new initiatives to facilitate the continuing development of the campus as a center for graduate education and research. The nomination of Dr. Stukel was made with the advice of a search committee.' The vice president for academic affairs concurs in the recommendation. I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Forsyth, this appointment was approved.

Head, Department of Animal Sciences, Urbana

(8) The chancellor at Urbana-Champaign, after consultation with the dean of the College of Agriculture, has recommended the appointment of Wayne R. Gomes, presently professor and head of the Department of Dairy Science, as head of the Department of Animal Sciences, beginning July 2 1 , 1985, on a twelve-month service basis at an annual salary of $72,500. Dr. Gomes will continue to hold the rank of professor on indefinite tenure. He is the first head of the recently approved Department of Animal Sciences, formed by the merger of the Departments of Animal Science and Dairy Science. The nomination is made on the recommendation of a search committee' and
