T h e nomination is made with the advice of a search committee' and is supported by the Executive Committee of the college. T h e vice president for academic affairs concurs. I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Forsyth, this appointment was approved.

Acting Dean, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Chicago

(7) T h e chancellor at the Chicago campus has recommended the appointment of Jay A. Levine, presently professor of English and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as acting dean of the college, beginning September 1, 1985, on a twelve-month service basis at an annual salary of $84,000. Dr. Levine will continue to hold the rank of associate dean and professor of English on indefinite tenure. H e will succeed Philip Dwinger, who will retire effective August 3 1 , 1985. This recommendation is made with the support of the Executive Committee and the executive officers of the college. T h e vice president for academic affairs concurs in this recommendation. I recommend approval.

Director, Division of Rehabilitation—Education Services, Urbana

(8) The chancellor at Urbana-Champaign, after consultation with the dean of the College of Applied Life Studies, has recommended the appointment of Joseph R. Larsen, Jr., presently professor of entomology and physiology, as director of the Division of Rehabilitation-Education Services in the College of Applied Life Studies, beginning August 2 1 , 1985, on an academic year service basis at an annual salary of $60,975. Dr. Larsen will continue to hold the rank of professor on indefinite tenure. H e will succeed Professor Timothy J. Nugent, who is retiring after serving for 37 years as director. T h e nomination is made on the recommendation of a search committee* and after consultation with members of the faculty of the Division of RehabilitationEducation Services and the Executive Committee of the College of Applied Life Studies. T h e vice president for academic affairs concurs. I recommend approval.
