provided in the budget, the unused balance will lapse at t h a t time." Accordingly, balances in the salaries budgets of the various departments of the University due to positions not filled during the second semester, 1936-1937, or to appointments a t salaries less than the budgetary provisions, totaling $16,516, are lapsing during t h e second half of the current academic year and will go into the General Reserve Fund. Lists of these items are being given to the Secretary of the Board and the Comptroller for record.

ADJUSTMENT IN BUDGET OF DEPARTMENT OF A G R O N O M Y FOR CORN P E R F O R M A N C E TESTS

(4) A recommendation from the Dean of the College of Agriculture t h a t the 1936-1937 budget of the Department of Agronomy be revised to provide for testing corn performance, a new activity of the Department. This activity will be practically self-supporting financially, but it is desirable to set up a separate account for this work. T h e Department estimates annual receipts of $2,325 and annual expenses of $2,309; for the balance of the present fiscal year the estimate of expense is $750, although the receipts will approximate $2,325. The following provisions are recommended: 1. Authorization to credit all receipts from corn performance tests to a revolving account, the balance to be carried forward a t the close of each fiscal year. The estimate for the current year to June 30 is $2,325. 2. Approval of a budget of expenditures for this work for the remainder of the fiscal year to June 30 as follows to be appropriated out of the revolving account: Wages Travel Total $600 150 $750

On motion of Dr. Meyer, the setting up of this revolving account was authorized and the appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Karraker, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb; no, none; absent, Mr. Horner, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Pogue, Mr. Wieland.

APPROPRIATION FOR THE REGISTRAR'S OFFICE (5) A recommendation t h a t an assignment of $950 be made from the General Reserve Fund to the Registrar's Office to supplement the expense of that office for the current year 1936-1937.

On motion of Dr. Meyer, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Karraker, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb; no, none; absent, Mr. Horner, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Pogue, Mr. Wieland.

APPROPRIATION FOR UNfVERSITY BULLETINS (6) The Director of the University Press reports t h a t the cost of printing and mailing certain University bulletins will exceed budgetary provisions for this expense for the current fiscal year by approximately $650 due largely to the increase in the number of students. The items are as follows: Appropriation Expended Local Directory $ 1 500 $ I 762 Announcement of Courses 1 800 I 980 Annual Register 7 500 7 600 Postage on Bulletins 750 850 Total'. $11 550 $12 192 I recommend t h a t an assignment of $650 be made from the General Reserve Fund t o the University Press to supplement the appropriation for the current year for the above items.
